No House likes to give up the knowledge of their House specialization. We each emphasize different things in our children when we begin teaching them. I've learned how to do some of the things to the other Houses specialize in, but I'm still not as good as an accomplished adept from that House.
So less that and more of a necromantic checks and balances thing.
[ Assuming that is the reasoning, then, hey, whatever works. One House having more power than the others could also likely and quickly get messy, especially with someone with ill intent at the top of it. Happens a lot, even in non magical worlds, when some asshole goes on a power trip and ruins things for everyone else. ]
I might not have much desire for any myself, but it's been interesting here to hear about other people's magic. So, thanks for being ok with explaining some of what it means to be a necromancer to someone with zero context.
[Ianthe did like to talk about this that let her flex her knowledge. She enjoyed academic discussion, just don't call her a nerd. She's totally a nerd.]
I'm glad you're curious and not just going Necromancy- Ew. It's far more versatile than I think it's portrayed outside of the Nine Houses.
I didn't have anything to 'ew' about it even if I were inclined to. It was a foreign concept, I haven't seen you go around using it maliciously, and you willingly shared information that you weren't obligated to. So, even less reasons to 'ew' it now.
I'd be more concerned if it weren't versatile — but not in an 'ew' way, more like a 'that's depressing' way.
This is the real reason everyone else is lucky I don't have any magic. Every "you can't do that; it's impossible", I would figure out how to do it just to prove I could, or figure out another way around it.
A bad weird or a good weird? New things don't scare me; I'm surrounded plenty by it now, anyway. The alternative would be deciding all magic is bad and scary and shouldn't be learned about because it's bad and scary, and hard pass on that ignorance.
I'm sure anyone would be. I wish I could also say I assume that everyone else here has two whole brain cells and realize it does no good to be ignorant about it, but, I am not *that* optimistic of a person.
That would be the only way for that to happen. I like my brain how it is, anyway.

Not really a fan of the idea there's people from non magical places running around here being weird about magic and making the rest of us look like dumbasses about it too. But I also come from a place where certain people see colorful but highly toxic to ingest chemicals - meant to wash clothing - wrapped in a thin film and go "I want to eat it for views on the internet" so I'm not sure what I expect from humanity anymore.

[ it must keep Third House busy if they ever need to clean up necromantic messes by the others. ]
