Alina mentioned to you I was having transformation troubles. I spoke to her right after I'd woken up out in the forest. I thought John Murphy and I had killed each other, but there wasn't a body — until I got home, and then there was Quentin's body, and I barely got that to the Duchess in time.

Murphy didn't come out of the castle with the rest. I'm going to explain that to Mavis tomorrow, once we hike out together, since she's been worrying herself sick looking for him. I don't know what she'll do.

You seem unusually agitated over the potential death of a human that didn't like you. Why?

If he disappeared, then he disappeared. That seems to be the consensus.

But if I killed him and the Duchess didn't revive him, or didn't give him back, then that's a big deal. It doesn't matter how I feel about him personally.

My Lord, it may be worth it to question Xue Yang. If he came across Murphy's body, there is a very real chance that he confiscated it to make more corpse powder.

I find Xue Yang useful but if you need someone for Mavis to mentally rip apart that might have information, I won't be upset.
